A Prayer for Peace without Borders

Help Spread the Word

What you can do today:

   1.  Duplicate this material and distribute it around your community, city or town.

   2.  Appoint a Prayer Leader who will lead the prayer in your area on Sunday, March 18, 2007 between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 Noon (your local time) if possible. Share a meal with your neighbors. Celebrate local Peacemakers.

   3.  Select a Peace Representative who can attend the Peace Awards Rally in Washington, D.C. March 18, 2007.

   4.  Talk with your bishop, pastor or minister, imam or rabbi, maharishi, lama or spiritual guide.  Ask them to pray with us and involve their associates, congregation, students and peers.

   5.  We will be glad to talk with your group of 100 or so without charge; we would appreciate help with the cost of transportation, however.   As you may know, for 10 years I have been associated with the Benedictines; my home community is Queen of Angels in Mt. Angel, Oregon.  My adopted Benedictine family is St. Anselm’s Abbey in Washington, D. C.  For most of that time, with the exception of lay ministry, I have been self-cloistered.  My role model was Benedict of Nursia, Italy, founder of Western Monasticism.* I came out of self-cloister to speak about praying for peace.
